Östra Nyrups Danslada

Dance, somatics, improvisation, research, performance, community

In spring 2023 I started renting a house on a farm outside Höör belonging to Kerstin Ekström, a doctor dedicated to the dance form contact improvisation. During her years living on the land she built a dancing barn, in which she is hosting a contact improvisation jam for the community every Monday (18.00-20.00) June-August.

During the summer season I am now hosting different kinds of events in this barn and on the land, related to somatic and improvisational forms, artistic experimentation with these forms, permaculture and embodied practices of activism and alternative ways of relating to each other and the more-than-human world.

What is unique with this space is that we invite you into our home and offer an intimate, in-depth and personal learning environment for smaller groups.

Summer 2023

In July and August 2023 we hosted two workshop retreats with dance pioneer K.J. Holmes from New York. K.J. Holmes has been a crucial person in developing improvisational and somatic forms in New Yorks dance scene and in Europe, through her close collaborations with artists such as Lisa Nelson, Steve Paxton, Simone Forti and Karen Nelson. She is also a student of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen (Body-Mind Centering) and André Bernard (Ideokinesis).

The workshops brought improvisers and movers from all of Sweden, Italy, New York and Oslo to our land.

We served organic and locally sourced food, including vegetables from our land.
